Zeekr is gearing up to unveil its new 8X crossover, officially debuting in China in the first quarter of 2026. The Zeekr 8X will feature a cutting-edge hybrid powertrain with three electric motors. It will also include a high-voltage 900V system, support for ultra-fast charging at 6C level, and an AI-driven adaptive air suspension. This suspension will dynamically adjust to driving style and road conditions in real time.
Interestingly, as internal combustion engines (ICE) gain popularity worldwide, with brands like Xiaomi preparing not only electric vehicles, Zeekr 8X represents a significant leap in hybrid technology, targeting the luxury SUV segment.
Previously, the Zeekr 9X was released as a flagship luxury plug-in hybrid SUV from Geely. The vehicle is also built on a pioneering 900-volt architecture. It combines a 2-liter ICE with two electric motors for a total output of 660 kW (885 hp). Its power source options include 55 kWh or 70 kWh batteries. The top version is powered by the same ICE and three electric motors, delivering an impressive 1030 kW (1381 hp). Acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) is achieved in just 3.1 seconds, making it a formidable competitor in the luxury crossover market.
The Zeekr 9X is a full-size crossover boasting dimensions of 5239 x 2029 x 1819 mm, with a wheelbase of 3169 mm. The interior is designed with six seats in a 2+2+2 configuration, featuring a central console made up of two 16-inch screens. Among other unique features are a 47-inch augmented reality head-up display and a 17-inch 3K roof display, highlighting the blending of technology and luxury.
According to a report by the professional consulting group EY, global car buyers are increasingly reverting to internal combustion engines due to policy changes, trade wars, and growing skepticism about the infrastructure and cost of electric vehicles.
