Yandex has unveiled its latest smart home product, a sophisticated surveillance camera designed for indoor use in homes or vacation properties. Priced at 4,990 RUB, this camera offers real-time human detection alerts, live video streaming with audio, and versatile recording options, including SD card storage and cloud services with a subscription.
The new IP camera is a part of Yandex’s smart home ecosystem, easily connecting to Wi-Fi and integrating with the “Home with Alice” app. Users can view footage on their smartphones, Duo Max Station, or TV Station. The camera supports voice commands for hands-free operation. For instance, saying “Alice, show the camera video” displays the feed on screen, while “Alice, we’re leaving” activates the camera and can turn off appliances like air conditioners.
Offering video resolution up to 2K QHD, the camera features a 103° field of view and a 350° swivel range, complete with night vision capabilities. It records locally via an SD card or in the cloud with a subscription. The “Standard” plan, costing 299 RUB per month, allows for the definition of non-surveillance zones and keeps recordings for seven days.
The “Extra” plan, at 699 RUB per month, adds human alerts and stores footage for 30 days. Both plans offer a complimentary first month.
The Yandex smart camera prioritizes privacy, easily deactivated by commands like “Alice, turn on privacy mode” or “Alice, turn off the camera.” Custom scenarios can be configured, allowing the device to disable and swivel to face away when saying “Alice, I’m home.” Additionally, the lens can be manually adjusted, and the microphone muted using a dedicated button similar to those on Yandex Stations.
Now available in the official Alice store and major electronics retailers, this camera is set at a recommended retail price of 4,990 RUB, providing a comprehensive solution for modern smart home security.
