Xiaomi has confirmed that the new Poco F8 lineup will replace the current Poco F7 Pro and F7 Ultra worldwide by the end of 2025. Leaks suggest that the F8 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the F8 Ultra transitions to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The Gen 5 model reportedly offers a 25% boost in GPU performance and enhanced AI capabilities over its predecessor, providing a significant edge for high-power applications.
Insider Sudhanshu Ambhore shared intriguing details, mentioning that Xiaomi has bolstered the protection of the F8 Ultra. The smartphone performed better than the F8 Pro in European drop tests, an enticing prospect for those who dislike cases and screen protectors. This improvement aligns with recent trends where manufacturers emphasize durability in flagship models.
Ambhore claims the Ultra can operate approximately 4.5 hours longer than the Pro in standard tests, which is a considerable advantage, reflecting the ongoing trend toward extended battery life in premium devices, with most high-end smartphones averaging around 8-10 hours of mixed usage.
The phone is expected to be slightly heavier than the K90 Pro Max, likely indicating a more robust cooling system or reinforced casing. This extra heft is not uncommon in modern smartphones where thermal management is critical for sustained performance.
Ambhore further noted that the F8 Ultra borrows some ideas from the Redmi K90 Pro Max but won’t use its massive 7560 mAh battery. Instead, it features a 6500 mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. This configuration reflects a balance between battery capacity and rapid charging, aligning with consumer preferences seeking shorter charging times without compromising battery longevity.
The camera hardware remains unchanged from the K90 Pro Max, with three 50-megapixel modules, including an ultra-wide and a 5x optical zoom module, promising continuity in high-quality imaging that Xiaomi users have come to expect.
Sudhanshu Ambhore previously shared detailed specs on devices like the Nokia 1.4, Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite, Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, Realme 7, and Realme 7 Pro before their official announcements, showcasing his reliability in leaking pertinent mobile news.
