Xiaomi’s New Phones: Revolutionizing Mobile Photography

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Pro smartphones will support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second using LOFIC technology, as announced by company representatives. LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integrating Capacitor) is an image sensor technology that allows the camera to take two types of photos simultaneously: one at standard light sensitivity and the other at a reduced sensitivity for overexposed areas, preserving details in bright areas of the frame and expanding the high dynamic range (HDR) without the need to combine multiple frames, improving photo quality in difficult lighting conditions.

Company representatives added that this feature will initially be available on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and will appear on the Xiaomi 17 Pro with an update by the Chinese New Year. New features will not be available for previous series models such as the Xiaomi 14 and 15, as they do not support the LOFIC technology. Experts believe that Xiaomi’s integration of such advanced technology may raise industry standards, potentially leading others to innovate similarly.
