Smartphones Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max have acquired a new “video teleprompter” feature on the rear screen: the smartphone allows simultaneous display of text prompts and video recording with adjustable text scrolling speed. This feature will be especially useful for bloggers who prefer to script their texts in advance and minimize the number of takes required for recording high-quality videos.
Previously, the rear screen offered dialogue translation, live wallpapers, and viewfinder mode. The latest update is being gradually rolled out and is expected to be available to all users by mid-January.
Lu Weibing noted that the company invested 1 billion yuan ($154 million) in developing the rear screen, and the design will be retained in the next generation of Xiaomi smartphones.
In recent years, major smartphone manufacturers have been focusing on improving video capture and editing capabilities, integrating features like slow motion, cinematic modes, and real-time voice enhancement. Such innovations underline the growing demand for better video content creation tools among users, especially influencers and content creators.
