The deployment of HyperOS 3 is still ongoing, but the company has already begun work on the next version, HyperOS 4. Xiaomi inadvertently revealed this in an official statement on their global channel, where bug reports are published. The next major HyperOS update was mentioned in issue #6 of the latest weekly bug report, concerning the forced closure of the system launcher. The status of the issue states: “fix will be implemented in the upcoming major OS4 update”. In this case, OS4 refers to the HyperOS 4 update, as, in the same post, HyperOS 3 is referred to as OS3.
Earlier this year, Google released Android 16 in June, earlier than the usual schedule. Samsung quickly followed suit by releasing a stable version in July, while other companies took a little longer. The tech giant is expected to maintain a similar schedule for Android 17. According to some versions, Xiaomi may not have enough time to prepare for HyperOS 3.1. Therefore, the company may skip this minor update and instead focus directly on HyperOS 4.
