For many years, the touchpad on Apple laptops has been considered the best on the market. This is due in part to multiple gestures and the support for Force Touch vibration feedback. While Windows 11 also includes gesture support, it lacks a Force Touch equivalent. However, this is soon to change.

A feature known as Haptic signals is currently being tested for Windows 11. This means that if a user has a touchpad (or mouse) with haptic feedback support, they will now feel subtle vibrations when dragging and snapping application windows, aligning objects, and performing some other actions within the user interface.

At present, this feature can be tried in a preview build of Windows 11. However, most Windows laptops and even mice are simply not equipped with the necessary hardware. Nevertheless, the function allows the user to adjust the feedback strength. Incidentally, the recently released Logitech MX Master 4 mouse supports haptic feedback, providing a unique opportunity to test this Windows 11 enhancement in real-world conditions. Industry experts suggest that the inclusion of haptic feedback may propel Windows devices closer to Apple’s level of user engagement.
