A modder known by the nickname High Tech \ Low Life has crafted a cyberdeck that transforms a regular smartphone into a compact universal workstation. A cyberdeck is a homemade, portable, customized computer in a cyberpunk style. This bespoke case is designed specifically for phones and adds elements commonly lacking in phones: real speakers, a physical keyboard, additional ports, and enhanced ergonomics. The developer noted, “The laptop I need isn’t made… so I made my own. Creating this Cyberdeck took a lot of time, but it packs in many features.”
The design is inspired by the Atari Portfolio, an early handheld computer that appeared in the movie “Terminator 2.” It opens to 180 degrees, creating the feel of a small laptop. Old ThinkPad hinges were used for increased durability, and special mounts modeled in Fusion 360 secure the phone in place with magnets.
