Autohome reports that in 2026, sales of the new Volkswagen Passat ePro will begin in China. The feature highlighted in the name is electrification: under the hood, there will be a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
The power unit features a 1.5-liter EA211 EVO II engine with a capacity of 129 horsepower, paired with a single electric motor producing 197 horsepower. The traction battery capacity is 22 kWh, allowing the car to travel approximately 93 miles on pure electricity (according to the CLTC cycle), and the total range is about 808 miles.
The length of the Volkswagen Passat ePro is 5017 mm, and the wheelbase is 2871 mm. The car will feature three screens on the front panel – a 10.3-inch display in the digital instrument panel in front of the driver, and a 12.9-inch display as part of the media system. The third screen will be located in front of the front passenger.
Regarding exterior and interior execution, the Passat ePro does not have significant differences from the regular gasoline Passat Pro.
The automotive industry experts anticipate that with such a substantial electric range and hybrid technology, the Passat ePro will greatly appeal to consumers seeking efficiency and modernity. Volkswagen’s ongoing commitment to electrification aligns with global trends toward reducing emissions and enhancing technological integration in vehicles.
