Vivo has opened pre-orders for its Vivo S50 series smartphones in China. Prices have not yet been announced-orders are being taken on a blind basis. The lineup includes two models-the standard S50 and the advanced S50 Pro mini. Both will feature an aluminum metal frame, as well as a periscope module with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor.
Previously, IT Home reported citing Vivo product manager Han Boqiao, that the Vivo S50 Pro mini will be among the world’s first smartphones powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC (with performance over 3 million points in AnTuTu). All devices in the series will also feature a second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, while the S50 Pro mini model will get a 6.31-inch flat screen. The devices are set to be released in December.
Interestingly, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is touted to be a game-changer with its high benchmark scores surpassing many existing models. This chipset is creating waves as other smartphone manufacturers are slated to adopt this technology in their upcoming flagship models, promising a new standard in mobile performance. The release is anticipated by many tech enthusiasts, particularly in comparison to similar next-gen offerings from competitors like Samsung and Apple, who are also aligning their devices with cutting-edge processing capabilities.
