Vivo is gearing up to unveil the S50 and S50 Pro Mini smartphones this December in China. It was previously confirmed that the S50 Pro Mini will be among the first models to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform. Until now, the platform for the standard Vivo S50 remained unknown, but a fresh leak from Geekbench has revealed a key detail: the device is based on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset.
The Vivo S50, designated with the catalog number V2582A, was previously spotted in the 3C regulator database supporting 90-watt charging. Now, the device has also appeared in the Geekbench database: the device is built on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, features 16GB of RAM, and runs on Android 16. Its single-core test performance scored 2044 points, and multi-core performance reached 5851 points.
According to previous leaks, the Vivo S50 will feature a 6.59-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The main camera will include a periscope module with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 sensor. Vivo calls the S50 the “Battle Angel.”
From a technical standpoint, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 provides a balanced performance suitable for both gaming and daily use, making it a versatile choice for users looking for efficiency without sacrificing speed. With the rapid growth in gaming and multimedia needs, Vivo’s emphasis on a high refresh rate and strong camera capabilities positions it as a competitor in the mid-to-high-end smartphone market. While the exact pricing in CNY has not been confirmed yet, previous models in this range suggest a probable cost of around 3,500 CNY ($543), continuing Vivo’s trend of offering high-performance devices at competitive prices.
