Uzbekistan Dreams of Disneyland: A Grand Vision for Central Asia

Uzbekistan’s Ambitious Disneyland Plans Spark Regional Excitement

In the foreseeable future, Uzbekistan might witness the emergence of a genuine Disneyland park. Reports indicate that the head of the country’s presidential administration, Saida Mirziyoyeva, has already met with the Vice President of The Walt Disney. Several major projects were discussed during the negotiations, among them the potential “Disneyland.”

Reports indicate that the head of the country’s presidential administration has already met with the Vice President of The Walt Disney.

In collaboration with Hollywood specialists, we plan to prepare a new generation of animators, directors, and screenwriters. Mr. Washington showed great interest in the country’s ongoing reforms and expressed readiness to support our initiatives. We expressed interest in opening a Central Asian office of the company in Uzbekistan and launching a TV channel with extensive children’s content in the Uzbek language.

Uncertain Timelines and Global Comparisons

Currently, there are no details available, so it’s unclear how long the park would be constructed if the project is given the green light. However, considering there are only six such parks worldwide, establishing the seventh in Uzbekistan would be an extremely important event not only for the country but for the entire region. Existing parks are located in the USA (two parks), France, Japan, and China (two parks).

Typically, constructing a Disneyland park can take several years once a project receives official approval. From land acquisition to opening day, the process can span anywhere from five to seven years, contingent on various logistical and economic factors.

This venture also aligns with Disney’s expansion ambitions, as they continue to make strategic moves into emerging markets. Recent years have seen Disney investing in locations where entertainment infrastructures are being rapidly developed, reflecting a broader trend in which global players tap into untapped regions.
