Trump Mobile, a company under the Trump Organization umbrella, has rescheduled the release of its gold smartphone T1 to next year. Initially, the launch was slated for August 2025 with a price of $500. What stood out was the promise of a fully American-made device. However, plans have adjusted due to supply delays and challenges in the supply chain, as reported by Financial Times.
Company representatives have indicated that the U.S. government’s shutdown caused logistical issues, leading to a ‘high probability’ that the phones would not be shipped in December. The smartphone was expected to launch with a mobile plan priced at $47.45 per month, as part of a strategy by the Trump Organization to leverage Donald Trump’s return to the White House to boost the brand’s presence.
Incorporating top-of-the-line features, the Trump T1 boasts 12GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage, alongside support for memory cards. The handset is set to run on the Android 15 operating system. Its 6.78-inch display will feature a 120Hz OLED panel, offering a superior visual experience, backed by a 5000mAh battery and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. While the main camera will be a powerful 50 megapixels, it pairs with a 2-megapixel macro camera and a depth sensor, admittedly without an ultra-wide module.
The US political scene remains volatile. Trump’s consideration of a 2024 presidential campaign could enhance the brand’s attractiveness to his base, possibly mitigating any setbacks from launch delays. Meanwhile, the ongoing global supply chain issues, particularly in semiconductor supplies, continue to impact companies like Trump Mobile. Despite efforts by the U.S. government to foster domestic manufacturing, these have yet to fully resolve the present constraints on technology production and distribution.
