The Toyota Land Cruiser family is set to expand: following the introduction of the most affordable Land Cruiser, the Land Cruiser FJ, a pickup truck is on the way. After that, an even more intriguing model will emerge: a “stylish urban SUV with a unibody construction,” essentially a crossover.
According to the Japanese source, Best Car Web, this refers to the production version of the Land Cruiser Se concept, first unveiled at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. The upcoming new vehicle will retain the key proportions of the prototype: a length of 5150 mm, a width of 1990 mm, a height of 1705 mm, with a three-row, seven-seat interior. The low silhouette will be the main design element, with this model standing 165 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250.
Expected under the tentative name Land Cruiser Sport, this SUV will feature an entirely new architecture that accommodates both electric and hybrid powertrains. The drive system will be exclusively all-wheel drive, with Toyota planning to incorporate the updated DIRECT4 traction distribution system, adapting the drivetrain’s operation to driving conditions. Additionally, the model will introduce a brand-new digital architecture named Aline and boast a wide range of electronic features. According to Japanese sources, the global premiere of the new Land Cruiser Sport is slated for 2028.
