The Chinese company Tianma showcased the next generation of smartphone displays at CES 2026 – the new generation AM-OLED panels (Tiangong Screen).

Thanks to the unique SLOD architecture, the peak brightness reaches 7000 cd/m², while energy consumption decreases. The new fluorescence technology provides 96% coverage of the BT.2020 color space and 99% DCI-P3.
During the event, a 6.78-inch screen with record narrow bezels – only 0.8 mm on all sides – was shown. The screen’s usable area reaches 98%. When serial devices with the new AM-OLED screens from Tianma will appear is not yet reported.
Groundbreaking Screen Technology
Experts at CES 2026 praised Tianma’s Tiangong Screens for their innovative design and technological advancements. “The SLOD architecture not only enhances brightness but makes the screens more efficient, offering a visually richer experience without the trade-off of increased energy use,” noted a display technology analyst. This cutting-edge design is expected to set new standards in display manufacturing.
Industry Expectations
While no official release dates were announced, industry insiders speculate that devices featuring these screens could become available as early as the second half of 2026. These advancements in screen technology are anticipated to trigger a wave of interest among major smartphone manufacturers looking to integrate them into their future devices.
The Tiangong Screens symbolize Tianma’s commitment to innovation and its competitive stance in the rapidly evolving display market. As consumer demands become increasingly sophisticated, such breakthroughs underscore a pivotal shift towards more immersive and energy-efficient technologies.
