The recently unveiled slim flagship Honor Magic 8 Pro Air has hit the shelves in China. This newcomer stands out among other thin models due to its features: with a body thickness of just 6.1 mm, the Honor Magic 8 Pro Air packs a 5500 mAh battery-more than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 18 Pro Max. It also supports 80-watt wired and 50-watt wireless charging, outperforming even the bulkier flagships from Samsung and Apple.
The Honor Magic 8 Pro Air is powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500, which rivals some high-end Snapdragon processors in recent tests, offering highly efficient power usage coupled with robust performance. It boasts a flicker-free 6.31-inch OLED display with an ultra-thin bezel of just 1.08 mm and is dust and water-resistant up to IP69 standards.
Its primary camera setup is impressive: the main module features a large 50-megapixel sensor (1/1.3 inches) with an F/1.6 aperture lens and CIPA 5.0 stabilization; a 112° ultra-wide-angle lens with a 50-megapixel sensor; and a periscope module with 3.2x optical zoom, maximum 100x zoom, and a 64-megapixel sensor.
Weighing only 155 grams, the smartphone is available in four configurations-12/256 GB, 12/512 GB, 16/512 GB, and 16 GB/1 TB. The base version is priced at 5,000 RMB ($715), with a national subsidy dropping it to 4,500 RMB ($645). The top variant is priced at 6,000 and 5,500 RMB respectively ($860 and $790).
Early consumer reviews highlight the exceptional camera performance and battery life, emphasized by its sleek design, adding to its rapid sales growth within China. However, competition remains fierce as technology continues to advance rapidly.
