Renowned insider Ice Universe has published photos of what appears to be a foldable iPhone, labeled as the iPhone Fold. The device is portrayed in the hands of a user, both in folded and unfolded states. However, it’s unclear whether this is a model or a finalized prototype.
In its unfolded state, the gadget resembles an iPad. Apple has allegedly overcome a major hurdle faced by foldable screens: the absence of a visible crease.
Preliminary data suggests that the thickness in the folded state will be just 9 mm, which is slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 8.75 mm. When unfolded, it measures only 4.5 mm.
The internal screen is reportedly set to be 7.8 inches diagonally, while the external is 5.5 inches. The phone is said to feature four cameras, including a front camera on the external screen, another front on the internal, and a main camera with two sensors.
The anticipated price for the device ranges from 2,000 to 2,500 dollars.
Ice Universe is well-regarded for accurately forecasting new smartphone trends, such as waterfall screens, the notch on the iPhone X, the next-gen look of the iPhone 14, and Samsung’s 200-megapixel camera sensor. Exclusive insights into these upcoming technologies reportedly come from sources within the South Korean giant’s R&D department.
Earlier, high-quality renders of the iPhone Fold and details regarding its features were shared by Jon Prosser, an insider currently embroiled in a legal battle with Apple over leaks.
While there remains no official statement from Apple on their entrance into the foldable phone market, industry experts are closely watching. With companies like Samsung and Huawei already making significant strides in this domain, Apple’s potential entry could shake up the competitive landscape significantly.
