The Possible Revival of iMac Pro: A New Era with Apple’s M5 Max

Apple may bring back its flagship all-in-one iMac Pro, a product the company abandoned years ago. According to recently uncovered data directly from Apple’s software, the new model might feature the M5 Max SoC. To be precise, code references were found for an iMac with the identifier J833c, running on the H17C platform. The H17C platform, in turn, is linked to the code name Sotra C, which aligns with the anticipated marketing name of the M5 Max chip. Previously, similar data found in Apple software matched what was eventually released by the company.

However, there is a possibility that such an iMac Pro is being used internally by Apple for testing and may not go into production. On the other hand, rumors about the return of the high-end all-in-one series have recently surfaced online. It’s important to remember that the last iMac Pro model was still on the Intel platform. Released in 2017 and updated in 2019, the PC offered a Radeon Pro Vega 64X graphics card, Intel Xeon processors with up to 18 cores, and a 27-inch display with a resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels.

Interestingly, speculation suggests that Apple might be preparing an announcement at its annual March event. This aligns with their strategy to consistently introduce cutting-edge M-series chips, bolstering both performance and efficiency across new models. Industry analysts highlight that the shift from Intel to its proprietary silicon could lead to significant improvements in speed and thermal management, aspects critical to professional users.

Moreover, the release of an upgraded iMac Pro could further solidify Apple’s position against competitors in the high-performance desktop market, which is currently seeing innovations primarily from Windows-based systems.
