The Boring Company is poised to revolutionize urban transit by opening its inaugural tunnel route to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas by the first quarter of 2026. This exciting development was announced by Tesla investor Sawyer Merritt.
According to company estimates, the new tunnel is projected to transport up to 20,000 passengers per hour, potentially reducing user travel costs by 50–80% compared to Uber rides. The cost of the ride has already been announced.
The trip from downtown Las Vegas to the airport will be priced at $12 and is expected to take about 8 minutes. Meanwhile, the ride from the airport to the Las Vegas Convention Center will cost $10 with a travel time of approximately 5 minutes. This project aims to significantly reduce travel time between key city points, alleviate traffic congestion, and lower passenger expenses.
The tunnel’s underground format facilitates operations unaffected by traffic or weather conditions, thereby providing a reliable and efficient alternative to surface transport.
