Tesla Unveils Complete Home Solar System, Tightening Its Grip on Energy Innovation

The new Tesla solar panel and mounting system, combined with the company’s inverter, Powerwall battery, electric vehicle chargers, and vehicles, have for the first time formed a complete home solar system from Tesla. Although Tesla is a dominant player in the energy storage market with Powerwall and a leader in the electric vehicle market, the company historically relied on third-party solar panels. With the launch of Tesla solar panels (TSP-415 and TSP-420), the company closes this loop.

The new Tesla modules, assembled at the Gigafactory in New York, represent a significant shift towards its own integrated ecosystem, designed to address common rooftop issues like shading, aesthetic clutter, and installation difficulties. “This panel completes the full package of home energy ecosystem,” said Colby Hastings, Senior Director of Tesla Energy. “It is based on our years of history in solar innovation and engineering.”

Currently, Tesla’s Buffalo, New York factory is ramping up its capacity to more than 300 MW per year.
