Tesla Shifts Gears: Full Self-Driving Takes a Subscription Ride

Elon Musk stressed that the price of the FSD subscription will increase as the system’s capabilities expand. According to him, the car will be able to drive without driver intervention – when during the trip, one can use a smartphone or even sleep. It is noteworthy that Tesla will cease the sale of the full version of Full Self-Driving (FSD) after February 14. From this point on, the autopilot feature will only be available through a monthly subscription. As of now, a one-time purchase of the full autopilot package for a Tesla costs $12,000 in the U.S., with a subscription available for $100 per month. In addition, an annual subscription can be obtained for $1,000.

Now all new brand vehicles are equipped solely with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control by default. This was reported by insider Sawyer Merritt, noting that changes are already reflected in the company’s online configurator. Furthermore, all new Tesla vehicles continue to receive a 30-day free trial period of FSD with mandatory driver monitoring.
