Tecno’s Spark Go 3: A Budget-Friendly Splash and Drop Resistant Smartphone with a Premium Touch

The company Tecno is preparing to launch the budget smartphone Spark Go 3. The announcement is set for January 16, and some specifications are already known. Though the price is not directly available, historically, the Spark Go line has included very affordable models, and the specifications point towards a lower segment. For instance, at its core is a platform referred to as Spreadtrum UMS9230E, which is now known as Unisoc. Clear data about it isn’t available, but what is known suggests an octa-core processor, Mali-G57 GPU, and modest performance.

Additionally, the new model will have just 4 GB of RAM, an HD+ resolution screen, a 5000 mAh battery, and 10-watt charging. Despite this, the smartphone will be protected against moisture (IP64) and should withstand drops from heights up to 1.2 meters. However, the design resembles an iPhone, simultaneously suggesting elements from both iPhone 17 (with camera modules) and 17 Pro (with the overall camera block).

The Spark Go 3 by Tecno aims to provide affordable smartphones with decent features. Considering the shift in platform names, it’s likely that Tecno is using rebadged or rebranded chipsets to offer competitive pricing without sacrificing performance for entry-level users. The combination of an octa-core processor and Mali-G57 GPU suggests it might handle standard tasks but struggle with intensive applications. Including just 4 GB RAM, HD+ display, and 5000 mAh battery aligns with budget standards but can affect the overall experience if users seek more robust performance.

The IP64 rating for the Tecno Spark Go 3 indicates that it offers protection against dust ingress and splashes of water. This is quite beneficial for a budget smartphone, which typically aims to include a few premium features to attract cost-sensitive consumers. The phone’s ability to withstand drops from up to 1.2 meters shows attention to durability, appealing to users who need a robust device for everyday use.
