Suzuki’s New Surprise in Seychelles: Across Expands Horizons

Suzuki has introduced an unexpected twist in its lineup by unveiling the new Across crossover in the Seychelles. Previously, this name was used exclusively in Europe for a rebadged version of the Toyota RAV4 (based on the Chinese Wildlander). However, this novelty has nothing in common with Toyota: it’s a left-hand-drive replica of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris model, which debuted in India in September 2025.

Visually, the new Across completely mirrors its Indian donor: the only differences are in the badges and the steering placement. The vehicle is built on Suzuki’s proprietary Heartect platform (as seen in the Vitara and S-Cross) and is significantly more compact than its ‘European namesake’: its length is 4360 mm compared to 4635 mm for the RAV4-based version. The wheelbase is also shorter – 2600 mm.

The ‘island’ Across is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 102 hp (137 Nm). Options include a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, and the automatic version offers all-wheel drive. The ‘Hybrid’ badge in the photo hints at the imminent arrival of a 114-hp electrified version akin to the one sold in India.

Suzuki has big plans for this model: the export of Victoris/Across is scheduled for more than 100 countries. This crossover has the potential to reach Europe (possibly under a different name), where it could become an affordable competitor to the Dacia Bigster.
