Subaru Unveils the BRZ STI Sport Type RA in Japan

Subaru has introduced a new version of the BRZ sports car in its home market, dubbed the BRZ STI Sport Type RA. This is not a full-fledged STI, yet the vehicle features numerous mechanical improvements over the standard model.

Under the hood lies a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine with intriguing adaptations: Subaru has modified the FA24 engine version from the racing BRZ CNF, which uses carbon-neutral fuel. This engine participated in the Super Taikyu series in 2022 and 2023 and in the first two stages of the 2024 season. The company notes that the weight and balance of the components – pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and flywheel – have been meticulously optimized to achieve a racing engine feel with low vibrations and smooth acceleration.

But that’s not the only novelty. The coupe features 18-inch BBS wheels, ZF dampers, and Brembo brakes. The rear differential includes cooling fins borrowed from the racing car.

The vehicle incorporates several components from Subaru Tecnica International (STI): front and rear spoilers, an enhanced exhaust system, a sway bar, and a body brace. The most noticeable feature is the massive carbon rear wing. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission featuring Shift Assist.

Pricing and Availability

The price starts from $32,100 for the version without the rear spoiler, while adding the aerodynamic component increases the cost to $35,400. Production is limited to just 300 units, available not on a first-come-first-served basis, but through a lottery system. Applications are accepted until November 30.

Meanwhile, the sixth generation of the Subaru Forester has been introduced in Russia. This model continues to build on Subaru’s reputation for rugged reliability and off-road capability. The Forester, known for its symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, is expected to feature updated technology and enhanced safety features, catering to the demands of the 2025 market.
