SpaceX’s Starship Ambitions Soar as Second Launch Platform Nears Completion

At the Starbase spaceport, where SpaceX is actively developing the Starship project, the second OLM-B launch pad is almost ready, as shown in new aerial images. This construction of the second site at Starbase confirms SpaceX’s plans to create a reusable transport system for lunar and Martian flights. The second launch pad will allow for the simultaneous launch of several rockets, as well as catching the Starship and Super Heavy. The new Mechazilla tower is also visible in the photographs.

As previously reported, SpaceX conducted tests of two new-generation Starship rocket elements simultaneously overnight. The prototype Super Heavy booster numbered B18.3 successfully passed another test, while the company also tested the prototype ship Ship 39.1.

Earlier, new photographs appeared showing the construction of the Gigabay production complex located on the territory of the Starbase spaceport. Currently, Gigabay has completed dimensions in length and width, but in height, the final building will be twice as tall.

Elon Musk stated that approximately three years from now (by 2029), SpaceX plans to launch Starship more frequently than once an hour.

Key Developments at Starbase

The progress at Starbase reflects SpaceX’s ambitious plans for frequent and sustainable space travel. With the completion of OLM-B, the capability for rapid turnaround and high-volume launches will be significantly enhanced, aligning with the vision of a space-faring civilization.

The Road Ahead for SpaceX

As SpaceX continues to innovate, the Gigabay production complex underlines their commitment to scaling up production capabilities. By 2029, the envisioned operational frequency of Starship launches – potentially more than one per hour – marks a dramatic increase in space launch capabilities, shaping not only NASA missions but also commercial space opportunities.
