From here, Starship rockets are set to launch to the Moon and Mars: high-quality photos of the new launch pad and Mechazilla tower at the Starbase cosmodrome have emerged. SpaceX conducted simultaneous tests of two elements of the new generation Starship rocket last night. The Super Heavy booster prototype B18.3 successfully passed its next test, while the company concurrently conducted a check of the Ship 39.1 prototype.
The simultaneous testing of different prototypes underscores the rapid pace of work on the new version of Starship. This approach allows engineers to more quickly evaluate changes in design, systems, and software, without waiting for the completion of each stage separately. Notably, such developments are part of Elon Musk’s ambitious plan that aims to have Starship launches more frequent than once every hour by 2029, reducing costs and increasing the accessibility of space travel.
New photographs have previously surfaced, showcasing the construction of the Gigabay manufacturing complex located at the Starbase spaceport. Currently, Gigabay has its dimensions only completed in length and width, but the final building is expected to be twice as tall. This expansion is anticipated to bolster SpaceX’s production capabilities significantly, aligning with their goal of rapid prototyping and frequent launches.
