SpaceX Aims for Lunar Landing with Innovative Tech and Successful Tests

Data has emerged about new plans from SpaceX: the company is considering June 2027 as the tentative date for the first uncrewed landing of Starship on the lunar surface. The next step is a crewed mission, possibly scheduled for September 2028. Both dates depend on the successful completion of a key experiment: in June 2026, SpaceX plans to test orbital refueling, which involves the transfer of fuel between two Starship vessels. This stage is critically important for any long-term expedition, as the landing version of the spacecraft must depart for the Moon with fully filled tanks to return back.

Recently, on Highway 4 near Starbase in Texas, witnesses spotted a large testing device adorned with SpaceX’s logo and named ‘ibeproofin.’ The latest Starship flight was the 11th test launch, which took place on October 14, 2025. This flight was the final one for version V2, after which SpaceX moved to the next generation of spacecraft.
