Sony Unveils a Timepiece Masterpiece in PlayStation’s Anniversary Spectacle

Sony has decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation by launching a unique collection of watches inspired by its iconic gaming brand. The company partnered with Anicorn to produce a limited series of watches. The highlight of this collection is the PlayStation Limited Edition model, with only 300 pieces being released.

The watch face and strap feature the four classic PlayStation symbols, while the hands are styled like the Start and Select buttons. The top cover bears the PlayStation logo, and the winding crown is engraved with the iconic power symbol. It houses a Miyota 9039 movement with a 42-hour power reserve, encased in a 316L stainless steel body with sapphire crystal, and is water-resistant to 5 ATM.

Each unit comes with what the company calls the SAVE. LOAD. OVERWRITE. memory capsule. Designed to resemble a memory card from the original PlayStation, it contains an NFC chip and a button. Unfortunately, the press release doesn’t clearly explain what this card does, but the manufacturer writes:

Upon pressing, the capsule transports the user to a digital memory board – a modern interpretation of game save management, now intended for personal storytelling.

Perhaps the card interacts with a smartphone, but the text is unclear.

Besides this model, simpler watches were also released: the Play Symbol Dark Mode and Light Mode. These are quartz watches. They stand out with their oil-filled glass, where familiar PlayStation icons float freely in this “aquarium.” Prices are set at $250 for the quartz models and $780 for the limited edition model ($780 USD).
