On the Sun, a powerful X-class flare has been recorded with an intensity of X1.5. The peak activity occurred at 17:08 Moscow time. X-flares are the most potent and potentially hazardous, as they can be accompanied by plasma ejections and influence Earth’s magnetic field. X-flares often cause geomagnetic storms, radio communication disruptions, and navigation system issues, as well as vivid auroras. That is why each such event is closely monitored by space weather experts.
Recently, it was reported that from today until the middle of Friday, February 6, the active region on the Sun is located almost directly opposite the Earth – in the zone of direct impacts with angles ±20° from the direction to the planet. The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of IKI and ISZF warned about the possibility of the appearance of classic “black swans” (rare flares of the highest class, which are impossible to predict).
