Hardware Canucks recently highlighted a laptop currently being tested that astoundingly lasted 24 hours in their battery test. The company has yet to reveal the model, only indicating that it is a thin and light laptop. Remarkably, this is the first model of its size to last over 24 hours on a single charge, retaining 35% battery capacity when the test concluded.
Unfortunately, this is all the information available, leaving us to speculate on what kind of PC this might be. Likely candidates include a new model featuring an updated processor. Currently, three new CPU lines are preparing for market release: Intel Core Ultra 3, AMD Ryzen AI 400, and Snapdragon X2. It’s worth noting that Ryzen AI 400 closely mirrors Ryzen AI 300. While the latter offers impressive energy efficiency, it hasn’t set records like this before, making it more plausible that the laptop is equipped with Core Ultra 3 or Snapdragon X2 technology.
The Core Ultra 3 processor uses advanced design and manufacturing techniques, possibly leveraging breakthroughs like Intel’s Foveros 3D stacking technology and TSMC processes to enhance efficiency. The Snapdragon X2, meanwhile, is known for its integration with AI technology and power optimization techniques that contribute to substantial battery life advancements.
These developments come at a time when consumer demand for longer-lasting portable devices is surging. The market for slim, lightweight laptops with extended battery life is expanding, driven by new professional and remote work environments that benefit from uninterrupted usage periods.
The Core series, noted for ongoing innovations, might also attribute its longevity to similar advanced architectures or energy optimization strategies. Although lacking full details, the Core 3 series are effectively reduced-scale versions of the Core Ultra 3, yet maintain key efficiency traits.
