American brand Scout Motors, revived thanks to Volkswagen’s involvement, is nearing the finish line: the final design of the SUV and pickup has been revealed. It almost completely mirrors the early concepts.

As Cody Tucker, the Vice President of Commercial Operations at the company, told Automotive News, the project is “rapidly approaching” the image of real production cars. Several iterations of test prototypes have already undergone extensive road tests on different continents. The first stage of cold tests in Sweden has been completed, and the brand faces a new cycle of low-temperature tests.

According to Chief Designer Chris Benjamin, the main difference between the prototypes and production cars is related to the daytime running lights, which in the prototypes dramatically “flowed” into the metal of the wings. This design proved too complex and expensive for mass production. As a result, Scout replaced it with a simpler yet neat stamped decorative element.

Scout plans to release models in two versions: with a purely electric powertrain and as a series hybrid. This approach will allow flexible scaling of production of either version depending on market demand. Meanwhile, the hybrid will be the first to hit the market.

Pre-production assembly is set to begin in late 2026, with the first customer deliveries in 2027. By this time, the electric vehicle market may see new growth, but regardless of this, Scout will be ready to offer both powertrains.

The architecture of the new cars is the result of collaboration between Volkswagen and Rivian. From Rivian, the electric platform is used, with batteries supplied by PowerCo, a subsidiary of VW Group.

The starting price will not exceed the $60,000 mark, although the final cost will be announced later. Scout Motors promises to reveal new details soon. Industry insiders suggest that this pricing strategy is meant to competently position Scout within the competitive electric and hybrid vehicle market, offering a balance of advanced technology and affordability.
