Samsung’s Strategic Triumph: HBM4 Chips Lead the Memory Market Surge

Samsung has been actively working on its HBM4 memory and appears to have succeeded. The Korean giant reports that its clients highly appreciate these new chips, which are currently in great demand in the AI market. The CEO, in his New Year’s statement, mentioned that Samsung took advantage of favorable external conditions, as the demand for AI chips arose faster than expected. Customers who have already tested the new chips are satisfied.

In particular, regarding HBM4, clients even claimed, “Samsung is back.” As of the third quarter of last year, according to Counterpoint Research, Samsung held second place in the HBM memory market with a 35% share compared to the leader Hynix’s 53%. It should be noted that HBM memory is very expensive and brings companies more profit than ordinary DDR, at least under normal conditions. In November, it was reported that Samsung sold all HBM4 memory chips for 2026 even before production began.

Looking ahead, industry analysts highlight that the AI chip market is expected to grow significantly in 2026, driven by advancements in machine learning and data processing capabilities. Samsung’s strategic foresight in developing HBM4 chips has placed the company in a strong position to capitalize on these trends, with experts noting this as a pivotal move to secure market leadership.

“Samsung’s aggressive move into the HBM4 realm underscores their commitment to cutting-edge technology and market leadership. Their ability to fulfill the early demand sets them apart as a formidable player in the memory segment,” remarked a leading tech industry analyst.

The market share landscape for memory chips is constantly evolving, with technological innovation playing a key role in determining market leaders. With competitors already planning their next moves, Samsung’s ability to stay ahead in this fast-paced industry will be crucial. However, the company’s current momentum with HBM4 gives it a distinct advantage in the ongoing battle for supremacy.
