Samsung has prepared the Portable SSD P9, which stands out with its USB4 interface, also offering the largest capacity available in its class. It is the very first portable SSD on the market with 8 TB capacity, equipped with a USB4 interface, and offering data transfer speeds up to 4000 MB/s.
The company claims that the P9 can store more than two million photos or up to 3720 HD videos, although it can, of course, be filled with any data. The high speeds of this SSD are sufficient to work with video resolutions up to 12K in real-time. This means that during editing, there is no need to copy the file to the PC’s drive.
A full-fledged announcement is expected tomorrow, where more details on pricing and availability will be unveiled. It will be interesting to see how the pricing compares to existing high-capacity SSDs, as well as the reception from tech critics and consumers.
