Samsung has unexpectedly started producing OLED panels for Apple’s new laptops earlier than initially planned. These are the first OLED Gen 8.6 panels in the world and will be used in the next generation of MacBook Pro. Apple laptops will be the first to feature such displays.
Insider yeux1122 claimed that Samsung originally planned to begin production of the new panels only in the second quarter. It’s unclear whether this noticeable shift in timelines means that the new MacBook Pro platforms with M6 will also be released earlier. Earlier data suggested an announcement for these PCs at the end of the current year. This insider accurately predicted the delayed release of the new MacBook Pro to early 2023 and the absence of a titanium version in the iPhone 14 Pro lineup, as well as the iPhone 16 lineup’s RAM specifications and battery details for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Recent advancements in OLED technology indicate that the new Gen 8.6 panels enhance display quality with superior color accuracy and reduced energy usage compared to previous generations. Uniquely tailored for Apple’s demanding specifications, these panels offer unparalleled brightness and color range, setting a new standard in display technology. Meanwhile, speculation about Apple’s release timeline continues to swirl as industry analysts predict an aggressive move by Apple to capture the premium laptop market ahead of schedule, yet confirmation remains awaited from official sources.
