Samsung has recently teased the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, promising to set new benchmarks in the foldable smartphone market. Designed to compete at the level of its flagship Ultra series, this new model is anticipated to be Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldable yet.
According to a Samsung blog post, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will combine a meticulously engineered design with durability, positioning it as the lightest and most functional foldable smartphone to date. This new announcement confirms that the device will follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Z Fold series, not to be confused with the Galaxy Z Flip range. Samsung is once again linking it to its highest-tier Ultra series.
As the foldable market intensifies with competition from Chinese manufacturers, Samsung’s claims face skepticism. Chinese companies have consistently unveiled thinner and lighter devices, with Samsung generally adopting gradual improvements.
Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could measure about 9 mm thin. For comparison, the Oppo Find N5 measures 8.93 mm. While its weight remains undisclosed, Vivo introduced the ultra-light X Fold 3 weighing 219 grams, hinting that its successor, the X Fold 5, may weigh even less. Samsung will need to step up to maintain its leadership.
Leaked details reveal that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a larger display, a 200-megapixel main camera, and a specially optimized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. The battery capacity will remain at 4400 mAh with 25W charging support—specs unchanged since 2021. Meanwhile, competitors like Honor and Oppo have already integrated 5000 mAh batteries with 65W charging in their devices.
The official announcement of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is keenly awaited to see how Samsung delivers on its ‘Ultra’ promise. Stay tuned for updates on this groundbreaking device.
