Samsung Galaxy S26 Series: Maximizing Charge, Minimizing Magnets

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database now features comprehensive data on Samsung’s entire flagship lineup, the Galaxy S26 series. The certification confirms that the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra models will support the latest Qi 2.2.1 standard, similar to the Google Pixel 10 series.

However, unlike Pixel 10, Samsung engineers opted for the Base Power Profile, foregoing the Magnetic Power Profile. This decision underscores Samsung’s strategic focus on compatibility and flexibility in consumer accessories over the magnetic charging convenience that Qi2 and MagSafe standards typically offer. So, magnetic chargers and batteries won’t adhere to the “bare” smartphone back. Users will need special cases with built-in magnetic rings for accurate coil alignment and accessory attachment.

Nevertheless, transitioning to the new standard will result in a noticeable boost in charging speed. Recent data suggests wireless charging power will increase to 20 watts for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus models, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra will support wireless charging at 25 watts. This upgrade marks a significant shift as Samsung aims to enhance wireless charging speeds, potentially prompting competitors to adopt similar advancements.

The official premiere of the Galaxy S26 lineup is expected on February 25, with sales commencing March 11. These dates strategically position Samsung to capture market attention ahead of potential competitor launches.
