Owners of popular smartphones Samsung Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A36 have started receiving a fresh security update for January 2026. The new update addresses 55 vulnerabilities in the devices’ software, including the One UI firmware and the Android system.
At the moment, the new firmware is available for the international version of Galaxy A53 (SM-A536E) and the European version of Galaxy A36 (SM-A366B). It is expected that the update will become available in other regions soon. However, the January patch is just a prelude to more significant changes.
Sammobile reports that these models will soon receive a major update to the One UI 8.5 shell, based on Android 16 QPR2. The new system version will offer a more modern interface, as well as enhanced customization options. The large-scale rollout of One UI 8.5 will begin shortly after the official presentation of the flagship Galaxy S26 lineup.
Samsung has also confirmed that additional features like improved camera performance and battery optimization are in the pipeline. This aligns with their initiative to maintain device longevity and user satisfaction.
