Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the prototype of the G-Class Cabriolet, reviving the classic format of an open-top SUV. The company released photos of the pre-production model on social media, accompanied by the slogan: “The icon rises from the shadows and returns to the streets. Prepare for a legendary comeback.” The new G-Class Cabriolet retains the recognizable design of the standard G-Wagon but features a foldable fabric top. Judging by the presented images, the cabriolet is based on a four-door version of the SUV. The roof folding mechanism is yet to be disclosed.
The G-Class Cabriolet specifications remain under wraps. It is expected that the vehicle will receive the same engine lineup as the standard model, paired with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. This will preserve the G-Wagon’s qualities.
The return of the G-Class Cabriolet pays homage to the model’s history and responds to enthusiasts’ demands. The previous generation of the G-Class Cabriolet was discontinued in 2013, and its return to the market marks a new chapter in the SUV’s history. Industry insiders suggest the cabriolet could feature enhanced off-road capabilities, harnessing modern technology while remaining true to its lineage. In conversations, Mercedes-Benz executives emphasize their commitment to blending tradition with innovation, ensuring the vehicle meets contemporary expectations for luxury and performance.
Reactions from automotive experts and consumers have been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the vehicle’s nostalgic value and modern appeal. Enthusiasts eagerly anticipate further details, particularly regarding pricing and availability, expected to be announced in the upcoming months.
