Renault’s Indian Duster: A Unique Road Adventure Awaits

Dacia Duster has long outgrown its local Romanian roots: the car is sold in South America, Europe, Turkey, and now it’s India’s turn. The third generation of the crossover will enter this country’s market under the Renault brand, featuring an exclusive design differing from the European version. Screenshot teaser Renault

In India, the first-generation Duster was sold for ten years, from 2012 to 2022. Now, the latest third-generation crossover is about to make its debut. Renault has released a video teaser revealing design features, indicating that it will not have the signature Y-shaped daytime running lights of the global version but will include an enlarged protective plate on the lower bumper. A new addition at the back is a full-width LED strip connecting the taillights. Screenshot teaser Renault Screenshot teaser Renault

The interior will largely replicate that of the global Duster and the Nissan Tekton. High-end trims will feature a media system with a 10-inch screen, a digital instrument panel with a 7-inch screen, and wireless smartphone charging. A crucial feature is the panoramic roof, which has become a must-have in this segment in India. According to Autocar India, Duster will be offered initially with a gasoline engine, while a self-charging hybrid variant is expected within the year.

Unlike the global version produced in Turkey, the Indian Renault Duster will be assembled locally at the Chennai plant. The official premiere is scheduled for January 26. Expected price range: from 1 to 2 million rupees ($11,100–$22,300). In India, the crossover will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Skoda Kushaq. Given the growing competition, Renault might offer additional incentives like lower financing rates or extended warranties to attract buyers.
