Qualcomm has recently boasted that its Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme platform is faster in games than the best solutions from AMD and Intel in its class. Now, the company is set on enhancing the gaming experience on Windows on Arm PCs and Snapdragon platforms.
First, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon Control Panel, which automatically detects games installed on a PC and allows changing settings to optimize quality and performance through an application profile manager. Essentially, these are the same capabilities offered by NVIDIA and AMD drivers. Among these settings are super resolution, frame rate limit, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, level of detail, and texture filtering, among others. Users will also see information about the driver’s relevance there. Recent advancements indicate the Snapdragon platform now provides a seamless experience for gamers, further bridging performance parity with traditional x86 offerings.
A second key point is the new SoCs supporting the emulation of AVX2 instructions, a significant improvement as current platforms are set to receive corresponding support through a software update. Qualcomm’s statement on the availability of Fortnite optimized through UGD was made possible by the introduction of Easy Anti-Cheat support. They also collaborate with other companies releasing their anti-cheat and similar software, including Tencent ACE, Hyperion from Roblox, Denuvo, InProtect GameGuard, BattleEye, and Uncheater. This move, complemented by collaborations, aims to secure the gaming ecosystem for the next-gen PCs running on Windows on Arm with Qualcomm’s new SoCs, making them a viable option for gamers.
