Google is set to officially unveil the Pixel 10a on February 18, but a detailed report from the German outlet WinFuture has already revealed the smartphone’s full specifications and pricing. Contrary to rumors suggesting a mere cosmetic update, the Pixel 10a is poised to introduce several significant functional improvements, positioning it as a formidable contender in the competitive mid-range market.
A Leap Beyond a Simple Refresh
The most substantial upgrades address key areas of user experience: charging speed and durability. The Pixel 10a will reportedly feature 45W fast charging, a nearly twofold increase from the 23W of its predecessor. This enhancement brings Google’s mid-range offering closer to competitors from brands like Samsung and Motorola, which have made faster charging a standard feature. Additionally, the screen will be protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, a more modern and robust material than the Gorilla Glass 3 used in the previous model. According to its manufacturer, Corning, Gorilla Glass 7i is engineered for value-segment devices and can survive drops of up to one meter onto asphalt-like surfaces, while being twice as scratch-resistant as competing materials.
Under the Hood: Performance and Longevity
At the heart of the Pixel 10a will be the Tensor G4 system-on-chip, paired with 8 GB of RAM. While the Tensor G4 is not designed to top benchmark charts, its focus is on efficiency and powering Google’s advanced on-device AI and machine learning features. The device will offer UFS 3.1 flash storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB. Despite maintaining the same 5100 mAh battery capacity as its forerunner, the new model is said to be slightly more compact and three grams lighter at 183g.
A standout feature is the promise of seven years of software and security updates, shipping with Android 16 out of the box. This commitment to longevity is a significant differentiator in the mid-range sector, aligning with new EU regulations that mandate extended software support to reduce e-waste and enhance consumer value.
Display, Cameras, and Market Outlook
The Pixel 10a will feature a 6.3-inch P-OLED display with a resolution of 2424 x 1080 pixels and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The camera system is expected to consist of a 48 MP main sensor and a 13 MP ultrawide lens, with a 13 MP front-facing camera for selfies. The device will also carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The new model will be available in four colors: black, white-green, lilac, and red-pink. Pricing is reported to be 500 EUR ($593) for the 128 GB version and 600 EUR ($712) for the 256 GB model. A special pre-order offer may allow early buyers to get the higher storage variant for the price of the base model. This pricing strategy keeps the Pixel 10a competitive against its primary rivals, such as Samsung’s Galaxy A-series and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17e, which is rumored to start at a higher price point.
