OpenAI may soon emerge in the wireless headphones market with a model named Sweetpea. Unsurprisingly, it will leverage artificial intelligence. Specifically, it’s reported that the headphones will largely depend on cloud data processing using AI. It seems one of the features will be instant translation, something we have already seen in other headphones.
An intriguing aspect of the headphones will be the Samsung Exynos chip at its core. While the specific model is unclear, it is known to be a 2-nanometer chip, a feature yet unmatched by any smartphone, let alone headphones. This could potentially offer improved processing power and energy efficiency, setting a new benchmark in the industry.
The Exynos series, particularly those with advanced AI processing units and neural processors, have been instrumental in boosting the capabilities of consumer electronics by enhancing functionalities such as voice recognition, environmental sound filtering, and smart noise cancellation.
While the release date for the headphones and whether they will be OpenAI’s first device remains uncertain, the prospect of such a device stirs anticipation in the technology community. The company’s ventures into the hardware market also include a smartphone and a pen-shaped device, reflecting an expanding ecosystem of products. OpenAI’s foray into consumer electronics with AI at its core challenges established brands like Apple’s AirPods Pro and Sony’s WF-1000XM4, which have also incorporated AI features such as adaptive sound control and personalized sound profiles.
