The company OpenAI, engaged in artificial intelligence development, predicts that no less than 220 million weekly users of ChatGPT will subscribe. According to OpenAI’s forecasts, by 2030, the company’s chatbot will be subscribed to by 8.5% of the projected 2.6 billion weekly users, or approximately 220 million people. This will make OpenAI one of the largest companies in the world by the number of subscribers, the report says.
As of July, about 35 million users, which is about 5% of the weekly active ChatGPT base, paid for Plus or Pro plans at $20 and $200 per month, respectively. According to Reuters sources, although annual revenue for OpenAI is expected to reach about $20 billion by the end of the year, the company’s losses are also growing. OpenAI received about $4.3 billion in revenue in the first half of 2025, approximately 16% more than in the entire previous year, and spent $2.5 billion, primarily due to research and development expenses for AI creation and ChatGPT support. OpenAI expects to receive about 20% of its revenue from new products, such as shopping and advertising-oriented features.
Emerging trends show that the global AI market is rapidly expanding, with significant investments funneling into the development of AI technologies. Companies across various sectors are integrating AI solutions to streamline operations, enhance customer engagement, and innovate new services. This rapidly increasing use of AI is driving substantial revenue growth for AI companies. The competitive landscape in AI subscription services is therefore expected to intensify, with major tech players entering the market.
Financial projections indicate that the global AI market could reach nearly $1 trillion within the next few years, underlining its transformative impact on technological advancement. The focus areas include machine learning, natural language processing, and extensive data analysis, supporting both industry and consumer needs.
