OLED Screens Dominate: The New Era Display Choice Gains Momentum

OLED screens are becoming increasingly widespread and affordable, leading to users more frequently opting for such laptops and monitors. According to UBI Research analysts, OLED panel shipments for monitors grew 64% year-on-year in 2025. This means 3.2 million devices compared to about 2 million in 2024. For comparison, in 2022 the figure was just over half a million.

Under monitors, this refers to directly monitors, as well as laptop screens. However, smartphones, tablets, wearable electronics, and televisions are not included. This year, analysts expect shipments to grow to 5 million, and by 2030, the figure will exceed 15 million units.

Technological Advancements in OLED Screens

Recent advancements in OLED technology have led to improvements in display flexibility and durability, making it an attractive choice for innovative devices. This development places OLED at the forefront of display technology evolution, allowing for broader applications in varying consumer electronics.

Market Preferences Favoring OLED

Recent market trends show that OLED technology is favored for its superior color accuracy and energy efficiency, appealing to eco-conscious consumers. These attributes contribute to its growing popularity amidst rising demand for environmental sustainability in technology consumption.

Comparison with Mini-LED Technology

Comparing OLED with Mini-LED technology, OLED screens offer unmatched display quality with deeper blacks and higher contrast, though they come at a premium cost. While Mini-LED provides a brighter screen option and can be more cost-effective, it lacks the distinct vibrancy found in OLED displays.

Projected Growth and Market Impact

Projected market data indicates further growth in OLED shipments due to increased demand for high-quality gaming monitors and professional graphic design tools. Samsung leads the market; however, the authors do not state the manufacturer’s share. Meanwhile, the press release notes that LG supplied about 400,000 panels last year.
