According to data from HKEPC, Nvidia has instituted a new priority system for the allocation of RTX 50 series graphics card production amidst an intensifying memory crunch. From now on, priority will be given to higher-tier models within each memory capacity category. This means:

• For graphics cards with 8 GB of memory, the RTX 5060 Ti will be prioritized over the RTX 5060.
• For graphics cards with 16 GB of memory, the RTX 5080 will be prioritized over the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 Ti.

This approach is straightforwardly justified by the fact that at equal memory costs, a more expensive model generates more revenue for Nvidia. It’s worth noting that Nvidia only sells GPUs and memory to partners, which means they do not incur costs for boards, coolers, and other components.

End of the mid-budget gaming era? Nvidia is reducing the production of GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. As for the RTX 5070, the decision remains unresolved, but it might also be cut to allocate memory to the RTX 5080. It’s important to emphasize that Nvidia’s lineup only includes cards with more than 16 GB of memory in a few versions of the RTX 5090.
