Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5: Pioneering the Future of Gaming Graphics with Fewer Artifacts and Higher Frame Rates

Nvidia has announced DLSS 4.5, an updated version of its frame scaling technology, promising better image quality with minimal artifacts. The original transformer model for DLSS 4 Super Resolution sometimes showed image doubling during fast movement in some complex areas.

With DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, fast-moving objects remain clearer, with significantly fewer trailing artifacts. Combined with the updated 6X frame generator, creating up to five additional frames for every real one, users can improve gaming frame rates without sacrificing graphic settings. Nvidia shared that DLSS 4.5 can deliver up to a 35% performance boost with path tracing enabled at 4K and refresh rates of 240 Hz.

According to Nvidia, the technology is compatible with all RTX video cards starting with the 2000 series, but owners of RTX 4000 and 5000 will reap the maximum benefits.

Already more than 400 games support DLSS 4.5, and through the Nvidia app, the feature can be enabled even for games that do not officially support the technology. A beta version of DLSS 4.5 is available for testing now, with the official release set for January 13, 2026.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), an upcoming major tech event, is expected to be a platform where Nvidia will showcase these advancements. Such developments could interact with other technologies, like enhanced ray tracing and AI-driven graphics, creating an even richer gaming experience.

Canonical to those who remember the introduction of RTX technology, DLSS continues to push graphics boundaries, and its evolution to version 4.5 solidifies Nvidia’s commitment to leading graphical innovation in gaming.
