MSI Launches World’s First 600Hz Gaming Monitor: MPG 242R X60N

The new MSI MPG 242R X60N monitor is a groundbreaking release in the gaming world, offering a staggering 600Hz refresh rate designed for esports enthusiasts. Equipped with a 24.1-inch Rapid TN panel and 1920 x 1080 resolution, it promises unparalleled smoothness and responsiveness for competitive gaming. However, to leverage this refresh rate, users will need a high-performance graphics card.

Unrivaled Performance Features

The MPG 242R X60N boasts a lightning-fast 0.1ms response time (GtG) and features MPRT Sync for reducing ghosting and blurring in fast-paced scenes. It supports a 4:3 aspect ratio mode—a nod to classic FPS games—and includes AI functions like AI Vision and AI Crosshair, enhancing object visibility and targeting precision.

Advanced Display Capabilities

The monitor covers 93% of DCI-P3, 89% Adobe RGB, and 119% sRGB color spaces, ensuring vibrant and accurate color representation. It’s VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified with a peak brightness of 500 nits (350 nits typical), providing an impressive visual experience.

Versatile Connectivity

Connectivity options are robust with HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a, and USB-C supporting 98W power delivery. It also includes three USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 Type-B input, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Users will appreciate the KVM switch and ergonomic stand, allowing height, swivel, and tilt adjustments for optimal comfort.

Price Comparisons

While MSI hasn’t revealed the price of the MPG 242R X60N, industry insights provide some context. The ASRock PG27FFX1B, offering over 500Hz with a 27-inch FHD display, is available for under $300. With added ergonomics, the ASRock PG27FFX2A is priced at $327. Meanwhile, the comparable BenQ Zowie XL2586X+ with the same 24.1-inch TN panel and 600Hz refresh rate is priced at $999.
