MSI has introduced a rather unusual motherboard, the MS-CF20 V2.0, that combines an LGA-1851 socket for regular desktop Intel Arrow Lake-S processors with a W880 chipset for workstations. According to MSI, this configuration is suitable for industrial systems, although nothing stops it from being used at home. All Arrow Lake processors and DDR5 UDIMM memory, with or without ECC, are supported.
One can also note up to four RJ45 ports, but this is only on one modification. The other has only two, but in any version, they all have a speed of 2.5 Gbit/s, suitable for high-speed internet requirements of modern workstations. Moreover, numerous PCIe slots, VGA, and even COM connectors, GPIO ports, and support for SMBus, I2C, PMBus, and Intel AMT 19.x further enhance its versatility.
As of late 2025, advancements in DDR5 memory have significantly enhanced such motherboard capabilities, providing faster memory speed and improved system performance, which is crucial for data-intensive tasks typical in both industrial and personal computing environments. The integration of W880 chipsets also signifies a step forward in providing robust support for workstation-level stability and features, aligning with Intel’s forward-thinking processor design in the Arrow Lake series.
