This feature also relies on hardware because the corresponding motherboards have external clock generators. Basically, it increases their frequency. There are two modes: Booster 1 and Booster 2, with frequency increasing from 100 MHz to 103 MHz or 105 MHz, respectively. According to MSI, such overclocking provides a small, yet noticeable performance increase of up to 6-15%, at least in games.

The new feature is already available for some Max 800 series boards and will later appear in a number of other models.

Recently, MSI announced the broader adaptation of this feature, aligning with the release of AMD’s latest Ryzen 8000 series, expected to bring enhanced performance capabilities. Experts note that the integration of PBO BCLK Booster on these new boards could further amplify gaming experience by optimizing the turbo frequencies, crucial for competitive gaming environments.

In terms of industry impact, this enhancement notably positions MSI as a front-runner in the gaming hardware segment. With competitors aiming to offer similar solutions, this move underscores MSI’s commitment to pushing technological boundaries, ensuring their offerings remain appealing to both gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. The market anticipation surrounding these innovations highlights a competitive era in CPU performance optimization, likely benefiting consumers with a broader choice of enhanced gaming hardware solutions in the near future.
