Motorola Springs Budget Surprises in Smartphone Arena

Following the releases of the Moto G67 and G77 smartphones, Motorola has also introduced budget models Moto G17 and Moto G17 Power, which are priced at 200 EUR ($234) and 230 EUR ($269) respectively. The Moto G17 model, similar to the more expensive Moto G67, in its basic version, offers only 4 GB of RAM. The Moto G17 Power has a minimum of 8 GB. Essentially, these are almost the same model, differing only in memory size and power subsystem.

Both devices are equipped with the SoC Helio G81 Extreme and Full HD+ IPS screens with a diagonal of 6.7 inches, though without increased frame rates. The main camera relies on a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 600 sensor, which recently saw improvements in image stabilization, ensuring better photo quality. Notably, the industry is seeing enhancements in IPS screens, particularly in color accuracy and energy efficiency, allowing for more vibrant and longer-lasting displays.

The junior model has a battery capacity of 5200 mAh with 18-watt charging, while the G17 Power boasts 6000 mAh and 30 Watts. Among other features, it is worth highlighting IP64 protection and Pantone colors. However, recent competition from companies like Xiaomi, introducing models with enhanced RAM and larger battery specifications, highlights a challenging path ahead for Motorola’s newest offerings.
